Because the girls are deeply effected by mean or aggressive characters in movies, even animated ones, Peter and I try to be very careful about what films we let them watch. They’ve only seen a handful of full-length movies in their entirety. But for our recent trip to Iowa, Peter thought they might enjoy a new movie to watch in the car, so he bought Disney’s Cinderella. We both agreed that it seemed like a safe choice. No wicked witches or evil sorceresses. Just a step-mother and step-sisters who aren’t kind, but are rather harmless in the grand scheme of things.
Well… we forgot about the cat. You know, Lucifer, the cat who is always trying to eat Cinderella’s little mouse friends? Yeah, well, he scared Lydia stiff.
Will Jaq and Gus and the rest of the mice escape the clutches of the evil cat?!??!
I can’t even begin to guess, Elise. : ) The only Cinderella I’ve seen was many, many years ago (on television) and Leslie Anne Warren played Cinderella. A true love story. By the look on Lydia’s face, I’m thinking that she might enjoy watching the TV version. Lydia’s expression: priceless.
Spoiler alert: the mice get away every time.
I think overall she enjoyed the animated one, she just found the cat chasing mice sequences intense. I’ve never seen that one that you’re referring too, but I imagine she’d like it too.
oh. my. word. that picture is priceless. Hope she recovered from witnessing such horrifying acts.
She says she wants to watch it again, so I guess it wasn’t too terrible after all.
Don’t let them watch the Great Mouse Detective. As I recall, at least one of those mice doesn’t make it.
Oh my… good to know!
